Asia Pacific Mental Health Portal

Four images from Asia and the PacificThe Asia Pacific Mental Health Portal is a central resource for psychiatrists and other mental health workers in the Asia Pacific region. 

The participants of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Asia Pacific Mental Health Forums have been central to the establishment of this portal, which aims to host relevant data and information from the region, for the region.

International Corresponding Membership

The RANZCP is pleased to announce the launch of its new International Corresponding Member category in 2016.
International Corresponding Membership of the RANZCP will be available to qualified psychiatrists who are in good standing with their relevant registering body and professional association.

Benefits of membership include discounted rates for the RANZCP Congress and other conferences, along with copies of the RANZCP’s scientific journals and access to online continuing professional development opportunities.

2016 RANZCP International Congress of Psychiatry, Hong Kong

The RANZCP is delighted to announce the International RANZCP Congress of Psychiatry, to be held in Hong Kong from 8-12 May 2016 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre.

The Congress is being hosted by the RANZCP Victorian Branch and is held in association with the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists. It will include an Asia Pacific forum on workforce in the region.

2016 RANZCP Asia Pacific Mental Health Session

The 2016 Asia Pacific Mental Health Session will be taking place during the 2016 RANZCP International Congress of Psychiatry in Hong Kong. The 90-minute session will take place on the morning of Tuesday 10 May. Key representatives from the region have been invited to present on workforce challenges. The session will also include dedicated time for discussion with other mental health experts from the Asia-Pacific region. We encourage all attendees from the region to be present.

2015 RANZCP Annual Congress, Brisbane, Australia

We had the privilege of welcoming several Asia Pacific regional leaders to the RANZCP Congress in 2015. We were honoured that these leaders, along with two early career psychiatrists nominated by the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (JSPN), were able to present a symposium on postgraduate recruitment and training in the region. 

2015 Creating Futures Conference, Cairns, Australia

The sixth Creating Futures conference was held in May 2015 with the theme 'Practice, Evidence and Creativity in Tropical and Remote Settings'.

The conference included a ‘Leadership in Mental Health: Island Nations’ course focused on issues particular to the island nations of the South Pacific. The RANZCP was pleased to be a sponsor of this conference. 

2014 RANZCP Asia Pacific Mental Health Forum, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The second Asia Pacific Mental Health Workshop was held as a component of the joint 18th Malaysian Conference on Psychological Medicine, and 1st Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations Regional Meeting. It was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The two day workshop was attended by 30 delegates representing 18 nations.  The aim of the workshop was to discuss the main challenges facing the delivery of mental health services in the Asia Pacific region, and to identify actions that could be implemented to address these issues.

2013 RANZCP Asia Pacific Mental Health Forum, Sydney, Australia

The inaugural Asia Pacific Mental Health forum was held as part of the 2013 RANZCP Annual Congress, and heard from 23 representatives from 14 different nations.

The forum provided an opportunity for mental health experts from around the Asia Pacific region to discuss the challenges which faced them, and focus on practical ideas and regional partnerships to build capacity and boost mental health service delivery. 

A special forum about child and adolescent psychiatry in the Asia-Pacific was held immediately after the Asia-Pacific Mental Health Forum.
