Using the website on a mobile device

The RANZCP has launched its new mobile-friendly website to provide a better browsing experience for users visiting the site on smartphones and tablets. Members can now use a smartphone or tablet to check their CPD details, download clinical guidelines, register for events and much more, on-the-go.

What's different?

The RANZCP website now appears differently depending on what type of device you are using to view it.

The site is responsive to the screen size of your device. Rather than shrinking the whole website down to fit your screen, it will move parts of the website around to display the best layout possible. This provides a smoother browsing experience by making the most of your screen’s real estate and ensuring text is big enough to read and buttons are easy to use.

While you will notice some minor visual changes, all of the same content and services remain available. On desktops and laptops, the new site looks and functions similarly to the old one.

What does the website look like on different devices?

Navigating to web pages on mobile phones and tablets

The main difference between the desktop/laptop/tablet views and the mobile view is in the location of the menus.

Main menu

In the desktop/laptop/tablet view, the main menu is displayed on a dark blue background across the page, under the RANZCP logo.

On mobile phones, the main menu is minimised into a Menu link in the top left. Select the Menu link to open the main menu.

Any menu item with an arrow symbol (.) next to it can be selected to reveal its subpages

‘In this section’ menu

All pages on the website (except the Home page) show the In this section menu. This menu lists all the main pages in that section of the website.

On a mobile phone or tablet (e.g. iPad) in portrait orientation, this menu will be at the bottom of the page.

On a desktop computer or a tablet (e.g. iPad) in landscape orientation, this menu will be on the left.

Quick links

The Quick Links pages list the most popular pages used by each of the website’s main user groups.

In the desktop/laptop/tablet views, the Quick Links buttons are in the top right of every page.

In the mobile view, the Quick Links buttons are down lower on the home page. Once you’ve moved off the home page, they can also be found in the main menu.

Using RANZCP’s web services on mobile devices

No matter which device you are using, you will always be able to access all parts of the website. However, there are some services – like claiming CPD points and updating your Find a Psychiatrist profile – which are currently best used on a desktop computer or a tablet.
