Statements & Guidelines PDF Print E-mail

The College has a variety of statements and guidelines pertaining to the practice of psychiatry.  They are developed to inform practitioners and the general public of issues that may impact upon the practice of psychiatry across Australia and New Zealand.  Statements are flexible and responsive to the political climate, varying in accordance with the College’s changing needs. These statements are informed by the College’s Bi-National status, legal structure and organisational structure, and demonstrate a commitment to improving mental health care for all.

All statements and guidelines are reviewed regularly by the General Council of the College and remain current until withdrawn or superseded.

RANZCP President's statement regarding the 2009 review of examinations

Overview of the 2009 review of examinations

Delisting of Clopixol and Fluanxol from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme

It was brought to the attention of the President that Lundbeck Australia requested that the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) delist Clopixol and Fluanxol as of 1 April 2011. The President was also informed that this decision was taken without consultation with the RANZCP, other medical groups of consumer and carer groups.

The President then wrote to Lundbeck on behalf of the College to express the RANZCP’s deep concerns over this action by Lundbeck being taken. The letter from the President to Lundbeck is below as is the reply correspondence from Lundbeck.
