Expanded Training Settings Project: 2007-2009

The RANZCP is undertaking a two year initiative to expand opportunities for training outside of major public teaching hospitals.

Exposure to an increased range of training setting aims to improve the training experience and opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes required for achieving Fellowship and delivering quality mental health care.

Broadly, the objectives of the initiative are to:

  • Establish at least 15 new accredited psychiatry training positions in settings other than major public teaching hospitals within two years
  • Document the experience that registrars have in seven typical accredited positions to inform the wider development of the expanded training setting initiative
  • Identify and develop resources to support registrars, supervisors, directors of training and other personnel in the expanded training setting network such as orientation for trainees, workshops for supervisors and on-line curriculum tools.
2009 – 2010 Funding Round

The Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing are currently accepting proposals for funding of new training positions in an expanded range of settings for 2009 – 2010. Applications are to be submitted on the proforma below (available in PDF or Word format).

A new form must be submitted even if you applied and received funding during 2008. That is, positions funded in 2008 under ESTP must apply now for ongoing funding using this form.
