CFT Accreditation Visits The accreditation process ensures that training programs are providing quality training experiences which facilitate the training of safe and competent psychiatrists. The College, with the help of its Committees, have developed a set of accreditation standards covering five main educational, clinical and governance areas. A key College role is to determine these standards and it is the task of the Committee for Training to monitor this through accreditation visits to training programs. The process for conducting accreditation visits is outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure. Prior to the accreditation visit, the local Director of Training isto provide visitors with a timetable (see sample timetable) and relevant pre-visit information addressing the CFT Accreditation Standards. Pre-visit information is to be presented in the pro-formas below The CFT accreditation standards for training programs as a whole primarily details Basic Training requirements. There are seven appendices which cover the specific standards for the approved Advanced Training Certificate Programs, as below Following the accreditation visit, a report is prepared for the program and any advanced training programs visited addressing the CFT Accreditation Standards using the standards report pro-forma.
