Hauora Waikato Group is a Kaupapa Maori Mental Health Non-Government Organisation based in Hamilton, New Zealand. It is the largest NGO of its kind in New Zealand and provides a range of specialist secondary level mental health services to the greater Waikato region (catchment population approx. 380,000) contracted directly by Waikato District Health Board.
Hamilton provides a relaxed city environment that caters for individuals and families. Situated in the central North Island, it is within easy reach of a number of attractions including beaches in Raglan and the Bay of Plenty, recreational opportunities in Auckland, Rotorua, Waitomo and Taupo, and ski fields in the Central Plateau.
Services provided by Hauora Waikato Group include child and adolescent, early intervention, general adult, maternal and forensic mental health services. Hauora Waikato provides mental health services from a holistic perspective to Maori and non-Maori. We currently employ eight psychiatrists as part of multidisciplinary teams.
